a friend , lets call him Sword, called me the other day and said that he is now "post-atheist", which means he accept his religious world . I was happy for him,and but I just remembered the many advantages u get to be an atheist in such world. So I bet I can list 10 of these (or until my food is ready )
1-
Less chores . With no god requiring you to preform any special favors to him (e.g. visiting him in his house once a week
, preforming bizarre acrobatics,etc) that time is freed for u to do anything, including the same tasks above if u want it, it just u dont have to!!!!
2-
Less guilt. You are no longer to feel guilty for many number of things unless u decide u want to. Of course u will always feel guilty because of something u were though or still people around u feel strongly about , but still u have a significant reduction of guilt amount, I would say in the high double digit percentage!!!
Also, ur guilt element are always configurable to u.
3- Holidays, with no holi. You get to enjoy holidays without having to worry about the holi part ( praying, fasting, talking to god on the phone). For u it is just a nice social occasion. Isnt it nice ?
4- Simpler Explanations. You tend to seek simpler explanation for things. For example, you don't have to think about what did u upset god in when some'n bad happen to u. You just look for the real cause, or think of it as bad luck
5- Less people to thank. When some thing great happens to you, u dont have to thank god for it although u dont know how he helped. You can always give more of that credit that goes to god to ur friends or yourself !!!
6- You seek better help. When god is around when a disaster happens u tend to seek help from god , "oh god help me get out of this burning building", otherwise u will focus on getting someone who will actually help you.
7- In vain. The best part is that u can use god's name anyway u want , starting from "ya 2allaaaa" when the food is overcooked to "oh god" in sex, and u will not feel that ur directing that to anyone who cares. Use the lords name in vain , even to "yel3an rabbak".
8- Stereotypes. Like it or not ur parents at least have a religion or ur name or ethnicity say something about ur supposed religion. Thus, people stereotype you. Now if u are religious that sucks cause some of the stereotypes might be true. When u are "taralalli" u get to bust them in the act and say "why because you think I'm ...." , it is way to much fun to be missed , especially here in the west.
